We cannot gather as we normally do but today is “Hasami No Hi” Hasami no hi means day of the scissors and is a day we give thanks. Each year on August 3rd at 3:00pm the service begins. (In Japanese scissors are referred to as HASAMI. The reading can also mean the numbers 8, 3 & 3. Therefore the month is August, the day is the 3rd and time is 3:00). This day was founded by my grandparents, Jiichi and Aiko Yamano to pray for thankfulness and future prosperity for those who use scissors in their profession.
